Carbon steel flat bar generally contains carbon ranging from 0.05% to 0.70%, with different proportions of manganese (0.30%–1.65%) and impurities of sulfur and phosphorus. The above composition ensures improved toughness and weldability. The mechanical properties are tensile strength of 440–550 MPa, yield strength of 250–350 MPa, and elongation of approximately 20%. These bars have good ductility, machinability, and hardness and are best suited for forming, welding, and machining operations in structure and industry.
