Nitinol Superelastic Bars consist mainly of almost equal atomic percentages of nickel (around 55–56%) and titanium (around 44–45%). Nitinol Superelastic Bars have very good mechanical properties like high elasticity, shape memory effect, and great fatigue endurance. They can be strained up to 8% and snap back into their original shape under unloading, by virtue of stress-induced martensitic transformation. Nitinol bars also have moderate strength, low stiffness relative to steel, and adequate corrosion resistance, particularly in biomedical environments, which makes them best suited for applications demanding flexibility and mechanical strength.
