AISI 1045 Carbon Steel Bars/Rods are medium carbon steel with a balanced strength and toughness. The usual chemical composition is Carbon (0.43–0.50%), Manganese (0.60–0.90%), with small amounts of Sulfur and Phosphorus. These bars possess very good mechanical properties such as tensile strength ranging from 570–700 MPa and yield strength close to 330 MPa, along with a Brinell Hardness of around 170–210. AISI 1045 is found to be well machinable and can easily respond to heat treatment like flame or induction hardening and hence is suitable for use where high wear resistance and moderate strength is needed.
