Rectangular Bars of Stainless Steel 316 are made up of iron in a majority percentage, 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and very small percentages of manganese, silicon, and carbon. This alloy is known to have improved corrosion resistance, particularly to chlorides and acidic surroundings. In its mechanical properties, it provides tensile strength of about 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and very good elongation to 40%. It has strength at elevated temperatures, with good weldability and formability, which makes it a perfect alloy for structural and load-carrying applications under aggressive conditions.
