Tool Steel D2 Bars are made up of about 1.5% Carbon, 11–13% Chromium, 0.3% Manganese, 0.3% Silicon, along with trace amounts of Vanadium and Molybdenum. This alloy is air-hardening and features a high content of carbon and chromium, which provides remarkable wear resistance and edge retention. After heat treatment, the typical hardness falls between 55 to 62 HRC. It also boasts a tensile strength of around 1900 MPa and high compressive strength, making it perfect for cold work applications. Even after extensive heat treatment and machining, this steel maintains its dimensional stability.
