Stainless Steel 303 Hex Bar/Rod is an austenitic stainless steel alloy designed for enhanced machinability. It consists of 17–19% chromium, 8–10% nickel, and 0.15% sulfur, which boosts machinability but slightly lowers corrosion resistance compared to 304. The alloy also includes manganese, silicon, and a maximum of 0.15% carbon. With a tensile strength of about 585 MPa, yield strength around 240 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 35%, SS 303 showcases excellent toughness and good mechanical strength, making it ideal for high-speed machining, although it’s not the best choice for welding or harsh corrosion environments.
