Stainless Steel 316L Hex Bar/Rod is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel with nearly 16–18% Chromium, 10–14% Nickel, 2–3% Molybdenum, and up to 0.03% Carbon. The Molybdenum adds corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride environments. Its mechanical properties consist of a minimum tensile strength of 485 MPa, minimum yield strength of 170 MPa, and high elongation to 40%. It shows toughness even in the presence of cryogenic temperatures. Because of its non-magnetic character in the annealed state as well as superior weldability, Stainless Steel 316L is used for applications that have superior formability as well as corrosion resistance.
