Stainless Steel 446 Square Bars/Rods consist mainly of iron with a high chromium percentage ranging from 23–27% and low carbon percentages not more than 0.20%. This chemical makeup confers the alloy excellent resistance against corrosion, oxidation, and sulfidation even at high temperatures. Mechanically, these rods have a tensile strength of approximately 485 MPa and a yield strength of about 275 MPa, coupled with elongation of about 20% on 50 mm. Their ferritic microstructure confers them good thermal conductivity and scaling resistance. Stainless Steel 446 cannot be hardened through heat treatment and is moderately formable.
