Aluminium 1100 is a commercially pure aluminium alloy, boasting at least 99.0% aluminium along with trace amounts of copper (up to 0.05–0.20%), iron, and silicon. This alloy isn’t heat-treatable, but it shines with its excellent corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and good workability. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 90 to 130 MPa, a yield strength of about 35 MPa, and an elongation of up to 35%, depending on the temper. While it may not be as strong as other alloys, Aluminium 1100 is fantastic for forming and welding, making it a great choice for cold forging and shaping complex components.
