Aluminium 5005 is a non-heat-treatable alloy that mainly consists of 97.5% Aluminium, along with 0.8% Magnesium and trace amounts of Iron, Silicon, Copper, and other elements. It boasts outstanding corrosion resistance, particularly in marine and industrial settings. The mechanical properties include a tensile strength ranging from 145 to 190 MPa, a yield strength of about 110 MPa, and good elongation (12–20%), depending on the temper. This alloy is also recognized for its excellent weldability and moderate strength, making it a great choice for forging applications that require both aesthetic appeal and performance without sacrificing corrosion resistance.

Aluminum 5005 offers excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, formability, and moderate strength, making it ideal for custom forgings in architectural and marine applications, while providing a smooth, aesthetic finish.
Aluminum 5005 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications. It has moderate strength and good corrosion resistance but lacks the high-temperature stability needed for forging processes.
Aluminum 5005 has good workability, allowing for easy forging. Its moderate strength and excellent corrosion resistance make it suitable for shaping, but it requires careful control of temperature to avoid cracking.
Aluminium 5005 Forgings find extensive use in industries that require lightweight, corrosion-resistant components with good formability. They are commonly used in architectural fittings, marine hardware, electrical enclosures, decorative panels, signage, and structural parts. These forgings are particularly appreciated in the transportation, construction, and electrical sectors for their impressive strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosion.
