Aluminium 6063 is an aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy that contains about 0.2–0.6% silicon, 0.45–0.9% magnesium, along with trace amounts of iron, manganese, and chromium. It’s celebrated for its good corrosion resistance, stunning surface finish, and decent strength. Typically, Aluminium 6063 forgings have a tensile strength ranging from 150–240 MPa, depending on the temper. This alloy is heat-treatable and boasts great weldability and extrudability. While it may not be the strongest option out there, 6063’s unique blend of formability, anodizing capabilities, and moderate mechanical performance makes it a fantastic choice for aesthetic and structural forged components in light to medium-duty applications.

The forging process for Aluminium 5082 typically takes between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the complexity of the part, size, and the specific forging method used.
Aluminum 5082 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and enhanced fatigue resistance, making it ideal for custom forgings in marine, aerospace, and structural applications.
Aluminum 5082's workability, characterized by good machinability and medium strength, allows for easy shaping during forging. However, its relatively low work hardening rate may require careful temperature control.
Aluminium 6063 Forgings are incredibly popular in architectural and structural applications, thanks to their appealing look and resistance to corrosion. They’re perfect for crafting decorative hardware, door and window frames, railings, light poles, and curtain wall structures. In the transportation industry, you’ll find them in automotive trim, bicycle frames, and more, showcasing their versatility and reliability across various uses.
