The stainless steel 202 round bars/rods consist of around 17–19% chromium, 4–6% manganese, 0.5–1% nickel, and a limit of 0.15% carbon, with the remainder consisting of small amounts of silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and nitrogen. They have good toughness, high tensile strength of about 515 MPa, and yield strength close to 275 MPa. These bars have reasonable corrosion resistance in mild environments and provide good weldability and formability. Due to their mechanical and chemical properties, they are a cost-effective substitute for higher nickel grades, suitable for moderate-strength as well as low-corrosion applications.
