Stainless Steel 316 Bars and Rods are mainly composed of iron, 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum, adding corrosion resistance, particularly against chlorides and acids. They have very good mechanical properties such as tensile strength of about 75 ksi (515 MPa), yield strength of about 30 ksi (205 MPa), and elongation of 40%. Strength and durability are enhanced by the addition of molybdenum in corrosive environments. These rods and bars are also hard, weldable, and resistant to high temperatures and are found appropriate for hard use.
