Rupal Metals is a well-respected manufacturer and supplier of Stainless Steel 440C Bars and Rods based in Delhi, India. They provide top-notch stainless steel solutions tailored for industries that need exceptional hardness and wear resistance. 440C is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel celebrated for its remarkable strength, impressive corrosion resistance, and its ability to achieve the highest hardness among stainless grades. Rupal Metals offers these bars and rods in a variety of sizes and finishes to satisfy the rigorous demands of precision industries like aerospace, automotive, medical tools, and mechanical components, where durability, polishability, and high-performance steel are essential.
Stainless Steel 440C Bars and Rods generally consist of Carbon (0.95–1.20%), Chromium (16–18%), along with small amounts of Manganese, Silicon, and Molybdenum. This specific composition enables 440C to reach a Rockwell hardness of up to 60 HRC after heat treatment. It boasts a tensile strength of approximately 760–965 MPa and excellent wear resistance, while still offering decent corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments. Although it doesn’t resist corrosion as well as austenitic grades, its high carbon content ensures outstanding edge retention, making it perfect for cutting tools and high-load bearing applications.

Stainless Steel 440C Bars and Rods are known for their high hardness, achieving up to 58-60 HRC when heat-treated. This makes them ideal for applications requiring excellent wear and abrasion resistance.
Stainless Steel 440C offers good corrosion resistance in mild environments, but for more aggressive conditions (like exposure to saltwater), it is recommended to use more corrosion-resistant stainless steel grades like 316 or 317.
Stainless Steel 440C is widely used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and medical fields for components like bearings, valve parts, cutting tools, and high-precision machinery.
Stainless Steel 440C Bars and Rods are widely utilized in applications that require high hardness, abrasion resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance. You’ll find them in surgical instruments, ball bearings, valve components, knives, cutting tools, molds, and wear-resistant machinery parts. This material is particularly suited for aerospace and automotive components that need to withstand stress and maintain precision tolerances. Its ability to achieve a fine finish and retain a sharp edge makes it a favorite in both industrial tooling and consumer-grade knife production. 440C performs admirably in environments with fresh water, mild chemicals, and dry air, showcasing its versatility across various applications.
