904L Bars and Rods have high chromium (19–23%), nickel (23–28%), molybdenum (4–5%) content, and low carbon (up to 0.02%). This results in the improved resistance to reducing acids and chloride attack. Mechanical properties encompass tensile strength of approximately 490 MPa, yield strength of 220 MPa, and elongation of 35%. It has good toughness and weldability. Due to high alloy content, it has superior corrosion resistance, especially against sulfuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids, hence a good choice for aggressive chemical and marine atmospheres.
