The Stainless Steel 430F Bars/Rods contain largely 16–18% chromium, 1% silicon, 1.25% manganese, a maximum of 0.12% carbon, and at least 0.15% sulfur for greater machinability. Trace amounts of phosphorus and nickel are also present in this alloy. Mechanically, the bars have a tensile strength of 450–600 MPa, a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa, and an elongation of approximately 18%. Brinell hardness is generally in the range of 152 HBW. Sulfur addition greatly enhances machinability without compromising on moderate corrosion resistance and magnetic behavior.
